SIETAR USA 2026 · Session follow-up
The team is the unit. Can technology see that?
Thank you for joining Jörg Schmitz’s session. Here is what we explored together, a lens you can take into your own work, and three ways to keep going.

One dimension, one live map
- 1
You placed yourselves
On the Interacting dimension: task to relationship, direct to indirect. No explanation first.
- 2
The group read its own map
Where positions aligned and where they split. Divergence is the data. That is where the useful conversation begins.
- 3
Three fields came into view
Intercultural: culture shapes the positions people hold. DEI: power shapes whose position gets heard. Anthropology: the pattern belongs to the group, not to any one person.
The Interacting grid you worked on
A lens you can reuse
Three questions for any team diagnostic
Use these on any tool you are asked to buy, run or trust. A lens, not a verdict on one product.
Does it preserve complexity or flatten it?
Does it need skilled facilitation to be useful, or can it run without one?
Does it put the team’s own interpretation at the center, or hand authority to the data?
The honest position
What teamscape does not map
- The historical and political context shaping a group’s patterns
- Whether a pattern is cultural in origin or situational
- What the team should do. The tool surfaces questions, not answers.
These are design choices. Without a skilled facilitator, the map is inert. We have not solved this fully, and we want your pushback.
